For 70
years LSCA has provided a summer Christian camping program for all age groups of
young people in the Springfield, IL area. The
camp has always placed a strong emphasis on quality summer camp programming for
young people. Children need a place where they can be taught about the
life-changing message of Jesus Christ, respond to the call for salvation in Him,
and be challenged to enter specialized Christian Service.
Over
the past ten years the camp average has been about 1000 campers per year in our
summer sessions. Of those nearly 20% have no affiliation with an independent
Christian Church. Over that same time span we have witnessed 350 baptisms of
young people into Christ. Campers have joined in
spreading
the message of Jesus throughout the world by sharing over $75,000 with our camp
missionaries over that same time span.
In order to be a vital part of area churches’
ministries, LSCA makes available a quality facility for
their utilization. Through the camp facilities area churches have the
opportunity to offer their own programs and activities designed to meet
the needs of their members. Throughout the year, LSCA also hosts numerous
retreats and church activities. Over the past twelve months alone we have
hosted one hundred and thirty-six (136) retreats. In those events seven
thousand four hundred individuals (7458) benefited from the facilities
LSCA has to offer.
