GROWING FOR GOD'S KIDS CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Over 63 years ago the founders of Lake Springfield Christian Assembly
established a ministry of outreach and training for young people and adults.
From that beginning, LSCA has grown into a multi-faceted ministry with a strong
emphasis on young people. In the past ten years - 10,039 children have
participated in our summer youth programs. Another 15,000 people of all ages
have benefited from the excellent retreat facilities the camp has to offer.
With all the negative influences surrounding young people today, it is more
important than ever that the truth of Jesus Christ be established as "the rock"
on which the foundations of their lives be built. One week of summer camp
provides young people as much Bible instruction as six months of Sunday School;
consequently, it is vital that LSCA have the facilities to maximize it's efforts
among young people in our area.
Additionally, we must be prepared to meet the needs of adults who will benefit
from year-round retreat and seminar programs as well as face the challenges of
possible year round school programs, which could adversely affect summer camp
attendance. As our area churches continue to grow, the greater the need for
quality retreat facilities to utilize for their own programming and training.
These issues coupled with the fact that our youth camp programs have outgrown
our current facilities have caused the General Camp Board to authorize the
Growing For God's Kid Campaign. It is a five-year capital campaign to enlarge
our dining and kitchen space and to construct a new dormitory, primarily for the
housing of boys in our summer camp program.
Just as with past facility enhancements, these projects will only be completed
through the prayers, hard work, and financial support of many people. Those of
us who support the camp today can band together to under gird this special
campaign in prayers and to participate to our fullest extent financially.
GROWING FOR GOD'S KIDS
EAGLE LODGE
Dormitory & Retreat Facility
$550,000

The central feature of the campaign is the construction of Eagle Lodge. To be
used primarily as housing for boys in our summer camp programs, it will be
capable of housing up to 144 campers and counselors. The existing boy's dorm
sleeps only 72, many sessions fill it to capacity making overflow housing a
necessity. The current restrooms and shower facilities are not adequate in size
or quality. Eagle Lodge will provide quality handicapped accessible restroom
facilities on both levels.
On the lower level there will be a commons area and small kitchen. This will
allow greater flexibility in the future for larger retreat groups as well as
multiple camp sessions. As our summer camp program continues to grow, the
combination of existing facilities and the new structure will allow us to offer
two camps of similar size, instead of one large camp program.

DINING HALL EXPANSION
$60,000
Expansion of the current dining hall will create additional seating for 70
guests. This will provide dining seating comparable to housing provided in the
Girl's Dorm and Eagle Lodge. Our food preparation, storage areas and wash
station have become inadequate for the increasing number of meals served and
kitchen staffing. Kitchen remodeling plans call for enclosing the south porch of
the dining hall for the canteen and pantry. The wash station and food
preparations will expand into those current locations.
"…those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings
like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
IS 40:31.

Our Camp Manager's Perspective
"'That people of all ages may be built up in the Christian faith and life.' That
was the purpose for the ministry of LSCA when it was established in 1939. Now
over sixty years later that purpose still holds true in our ministry goals. The
camp has always placed a strong emphasis on quality summer camp programming for
young people. Children need a place where they can be taught about the
life-changing message of Jesus Christ, respond to the call for salvation in Him,
and be challenged to enter specialized Christian Service. Lake Springfield
Christian Assembly provides such a place. Adults as well need to 'retreat' for
training, spiritual growth, and renewing. Providing a quality facility for our
churches to use to meet the needs of their members through retreats,
conferences, and church outings, allows us to truly 'build up people of all
ages.' The building projects contained in this campaign will benefit greatly the
camp's ability to minister to God's Kids of all ages. I strongly urge all
friends of LSCA who believe in our purpose to join us in this special program.
So that together we can continue Growing For God's Kids."

Our Plan for Success: Committed, Regular Giving
Base of the Campaign
All friends of Lake Springfield Christian Assembly will be asked to become
involved in the campaign. To keep the program organized, various groups
designated by name, such as Executive Board members, Camp Representatives,
parents of campers and friends of the camp are being asked to become involved at
certain times. In addition, all Christian Churches/Churches of Christ involved
in the camp's ministry are ask to participate as well.
Five-Year Plan
One strength of the campaign will be the five year (60 month) commitment
opportunity that will be available to each donor. Such a commitment allows the
donor to plan for the gift over a longer period and usually results in the donor
being able to provide a larger gift.
Leadership Commits First
All those in a leadership position of Lake Springfield Christian Assembly have
already made commitments to the campaign success. Commitments from the year
round staff and fifteen member Executive Board total over $75,000. Only those
who are willing to make a commitment themselves will be utilized in recruiting
others to do the same.
One-Time Gifts
While one-time gifts will be accepted, we are primarily seeking a longer term
commitment. The size of the gift will almost always be larger if it can be
extended over a period of three years.
Non-Cash Gifts
Beside cash, one may give securities, real estate, personal property or gifts in
kind which specifically provide materials needed for construction.

Construction Update
There are currently two major projects just completed for the
god's kids Campaign. The Canteen received a remodel to expand space and make
better accommodations for the campers.

The second is the expansion of the dining area. The old
facility was becoming too small for all the campers to eat comfortably.
The new facility will provide room for years to come.
